📝|2025 GNMP Match Explained: Key Updates & How It Works for Domestic Students

Updated: Jun 16, 2025

If you're preparing to apply for the 2025 Graduate Nurse and Midwifery Program (GNMP) through PMCV, you're probably wondering: what’s changed this year? The short answer? Not much — and that’s a good thing.

In this post, we break down what’s different (just the dates), how the GNMP Match works, and what you need to do to stay ahead.

🔄 So… What’s Actually Changed in 2025?

The structure of the GNMP Match is the same as in previous years. There are no new systems, no surprise components, and no new eligibility criteria to stress over.

The only difference for 2025 is the timing. Everything has been slightly pushed back by about a week:

  • Applications now open on Monday 2 June and close on Wednesday 2 July

  • Video interviews, referee deadlines, and result announcements have all shifted accordingly

That’s it. No structural changes. Just more breathing room in the schedule.

🔁 How Does the GNMP Match Actually Work?

Whether you're new to the process or need a refresher, here’s a step-by-step breakdown of what happens during the GNMP Match:

1. Register with PMCV

Create your profile on the PMCV GNMP Match portal, where you’ll nominate preferences and submit details.

2. Apply to Health Services

List your preferred hospitals or services on the portal — but don’t stop there. You also need to submit separate applications to each service directly (e.g. via their career sites). Each one might ask for different documents like a CV, transcript, or cover letter.

3. Complete the Video Interview

This is mandatory. You’ll respond to values-based questions in a timed, recorded format. Your answers are reviewed by the health services you apply to.

4. Referee Reports

You’ll nominate two referees, and PMCV will collect their reports. These go directly into your application profile.

5. You Get Ranked

Each health service ranks you based on your application, video interview, and referees.

6. The Algorithm Matches You

PMCV uses an algorithm (yes, like uni placements) to match candidates and services based on mutual rankings and preferences.

7. Results Are Released

You’ll receive your outcome via the portal. If you’re matched, you’ll have a short window to accept or decline the offer.

✅ Final Thoughts

The GNMP Match process can feel overwhelming, but it’s highly structured and fair — and now you have more time to prepare.

If you're applying for the 2025 intake, here’s your plan:

  • Know the process ✅

  • Follow the key dates ✅

  • Tailor each health service application ✅

  • Practise for the video interview ✅
